DIvision III Semifinals Set in Salem

The Big Dance has invaded the Championship City once again, as Salem continues its long tradition of hosting NCAA games with the Division III men's quarter and semi-finals.
      In Friday's quarterfinal action,  Thomas Orr scored 14 of his game-high 26 points in the second half and spearheaded Mary Hardin Baylor's run to a 69-66 come-from-behind victory over St. Mary's in the Elite 8 Round of the NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Tournament Friday in Salem.  St. Mary's (27-4),  had four players finish in double figures in the scoring column, led by James Davenport with 16 points. 

         Mary-Hardin Baylor trailed 32-26 at the half..and 51-42 with 11 minutes remaining at the Salem Civic Center.  The Crusaders then began to rally,  and the Seahawks' long-range shots started hitting off the front of the rim, allowing the Crusaders to outscore SMC 27-15 down the stretch.  Sidney Deloach hit consecutive jumpers to start the run, and Orr followed with three buckets within a 1:40 stretch to cut highlight the charge.

       St Thomas will take on Mary Hardin Baylor in one semifinal on Saturday at 6pm , while Amherst and North Central(Ill) will play the nightcap at 8:30. The winners head to Atlanta for the National Championship as part of the Final 4 celebration.
