CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -

The parents of murdered UNC student Faith Hedgepeth are speaking out.  Connie Hedgepeth says she is keeping the faith God will help police find her daughter's killer.

"I don't have faith in man.  I have faith in God, and yes we are keeping the faith," Connie Hedgepeth said.  "It's been over six months, but what else can we do but depend on Him?  And He will work it out in His time, not our time and so we just have to be patient."

Saturday, a Native-American pow-wow in Chapel Hill honored Faith's life.  Hundreds of fellow Native Americans from various tribes stood with the Hedgepeth family as they shared traditional tribal music and dance at the 26th annual Carolina Indian Circle pow-wow.

Faith's college friends and teachers presented her parents, Roland and Connie, with a box filled with letters to show how this community is remembering her.

"And students wrote their fond memories of Faith, how she impacted their lives, and message they wanted to share and carry on to her family," Amy Locklear Hertel, Director of UNC's American Indian Center said.

Hedgepeth was found dead on the morning of September 7 inside her off-campus apartment.  The sophomore had gone out with friends at a local night club the evening beforehand.

Police say they believe the killer knew Hedgepeth and most likely lived nearby.  Beyond that, the case largely remains a mystery.

Connie Hedgepeth says the continued attention this case receives has been tiring at times, but she does appreciate the outpouring of support.

"We love her and we miss her and we know that other people are hurting too," Connie Hedgepeth said.  "We're keeping the faith, and there's justice for Faith."

There is a $39,000 reward available for information that can help police find a suspect in this case.  You're asked to call the Chapel Hill Police Department's tip line at 919-614-6363.
