Many of your friends and neighbors are getting fit this morning as part of the 2013 Get Healthy Virginia Program.
Nearly a dozen teams are taking part in the program so far. It's kicks off today. Virginia Amateur Sports started it four years ago. It consists of teams of two to 10 adults who work together and support their teammates in developing a healthy lifestyle and get more active and physically fit.
The teams compete against each other to set goals and stay motivated throughout the 100 day competition that runs through July 2nd. "I mean you don't want to let your team down you want to help each other," said Diane Williams about why the team focus works. "There are captains you motivate each other and its been very successful for Virginia Amateur Sports."
Here's proof having a partner or two can really help, last year's participants shed 862 pounds and logged more than 46,000 miles of exercise in just 100 days.
You can register through Tuesday.
