Vinton non-profit working to expand manna packs program

Since Manna Ministries relaunched the Manna Packs program this year they are now serving more than 120 children.

The program sends food home with children weekly, so they will have food to eat over the weekend.

Director Greg Elliott said with the support of donations and volunteers they are hoping to expand the program to schools in Roanoke City, Roanoke Co., Botetourt, Bedford and Salem.

"Our goal is to reach 750 students by the start of the school year," said Elliott.

To do that he said they will need about 10 additional volunteers and more donations.

"This is an important program. We have the will and faith, we just need the money and labor," said Elliott.

Anyone interested in donating should contact Manna Ministries in Vinton. You can also sign up to volunteer online.
