University Physical Therapy expands to Salem

Posted: Updated:

Bill Jones is used to an active life now, after losing one hundred fifty pounds.

He says, "I guess looking back over it where I was heavy most of my life I really had no idea just how good you could feel when you lose the weight."

Physical Therapist, Tyler Bowersock, DPT has been working with Bill to overcome hip pain that was keeping him from reaching his goal of running a marathon. He recently achieved his marathon goal in Virginia Beach by finishing the Shamrock Marathon.

Jones describes his excitement, "Outside of marrying my wife Pam thirty five years ago today, it was one of the most exciting things I have ever done in my life."

Achieving goals for wellness motivates Bowersock who is expanding to Salem.

He says, "A lot of your business is generated by word of mouth. We are very fortunate as physical therapists that we get to spend a lot of time with our patients. We get to establish relationships with them."

One of the reasons University Physical Therapy picked the Salem location is because they had a lot of people who would have to travel from Salem to Roanoke County and when you are getting physical therapy 3 times a week convenience is important."

Physical Therapist Amy Foutz, DPT says, "Especially if you have an injury that limits your ability to walk or makes it more painful for you to be more mobile. You want something that is closer to home that you don't have to stay in a car for a long time."

Bowersock says, "We have worked hard to try to be efficient and try to get good outcomes we get a lot of support."

Between the Salem and Roanoke location there are 3 PTs and patients like Bill are proof that hard work on both sides of the table pays off.
