Radford drug bust leads to 3 arrests

RADFORD, VA -

Three men faces drug charges, after Radford Police say they busted a drug deal and lab at the Copper Beach Apartments on Monday.

City officers and members of the Claytor Lake Regional Drug Task Force raided a unit at 421 Sanford Street, after getting tips about marijuana sales.  Investigators say they found:

  • Marijuana
  • A DMT drug lab and materials used to make DMT
  • Numerous smoking devices
  • $5,000+ in cash

What is a DMT drug lab?


Officers arrested and charged three young men:

Casey Michael Gleich, 19, of Radford, lived in the apartment

  • Conspire to sell or distribute more than 1/2 ounce of marijuana
  • Conspire to manufacture a controlled substance in Schedule I or II
  • Manufacture a controlled substance in Schedule I or II



Colin Parker Hope, 20, of Radford, lived in the apartment

  • Conspire to sell or distribute more than 1/2 ounce of marijuana
  • Distribution of more than 1/2 ounce of marijuana, but less than 5 pounds
  • Conspire to manufacture a controlled substance in Schedule I or II
  • Manufacture a controlled substance in Schedule I or II



Lucas Michael Nelson, 18, of Hampton, did not live in the apartment

  • Conspire to sell or distribute more than 1/2 ounce of marijuana
  • Conspire to manufacture a controlled substance in Schedule I or II



The Radford City Fire Department checked the apartment for hazardous materials and air quality.  Luckily, no nearby units had to be evacuated, and no one else living in the apartment complex were in danger.
