Coca-Cola Consolidated employees volunteer at Roanoke Rescue Mission

Hundreds of Coca-Cola Consolidated employees are making a difference in a community they're visiting.

300 coke employees from 11 different states spent Tuesday afternoon working at the Roanoke Rescue Mission.

You might be surprise to learn everyone with brushes and brooms in hand are actually Coca-Cola consolidated managers, even the President and CEO was hard at work.

"We're visible, ubiquitous in stores and outlets everywhere, so we need to be out in the community as people," explained Hank Flint, Coca-Cola Consolidated, President and CEO.

"We are just impressed with coke that they spend a third of their time while they're here, they're here about a day and a half, so they're spending a whole afternoon with us, valuable time that they could be meeting, and so that's pretty impressive that Coke does this," said Leslie Littlefield, Roanoke Rescue Mission Volunteer Coordinator.

With 300 people volunteering three hours each Tuesday, the Rescue Mission is getting 900 total hours of service.
