BEDFORD -

Virginia Furniture Market, located in Franklin County, is expanding to Bedford. Their new store will open on Independence Blvd.

The owner tells us this will create up to 20 new jobs.

"We're just really excited do something positive," said Joel Shepherd, president of Virginia Furniture Market.

Shepherd says they will invest about $300,000 in renovations to the building, and hope to expand on the property in the future.

Traci Blido, Economic Director for Franklin County said this is great news for jobs and for the area.

"Creating more than a dozen jobs will really help the local economy, but also will be a destination shopping experience. Hopefully people from other areas, like Lynchburg and Forest will come shop here," said Blido.

The new store is set to open this Summer.
