Henry County deputies arrest man on the run for a year

HENRY COUNTY, VA -

A man wanted for more than a year has been arrested in Henry County.

Deputies say 25-year-old Derrick Antonio Hunt, of Martinsville, was found hiding in a closet on March 22nd, at an apartment in Ridgeway.

According to Major Ricky Walker, Hunt gave officers two different names when they found him.  The Martinsville Police Department helped the Henry County Sheriff's Office identify Hunt.

Hunt was wanted on charges of:

  • Felony assault
  • Robbery
  • Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
  • Possession of Schedule II Drug
  • Possession of a firearm while in possession of a Schedule II drug
  • Possession of a firearm with a removed serial number
  • Probation violation
  • Failure to appear in court

Henry County deputies also charged Hunt with giving a false identity to law enforcement.

Hunt is being held at the Henry County Jail without bond.
