Hokies Open Spring with Renewed Intensity

The Hokies three new assistant coaches were on display as Virginia Tech opened spring practice Wednesday afternoon in the indoor facility. The highest profile hire was offensive coordinator Scot Loeffler from Auburn. Also joining Virginia Tech's offensive staff is former Auburn offensive line coach Jeff Grimes and former Stanford wide receiver coach Aaron Moorehead.  Those two position groups were under the microscope last year during Virginia Tech's struggles to reach .500.

Virginia Tech's focus early in spring looks to be physicality. Virginia Tech lacked in that area and Head Coach Frank Beamer says you have to practice it for it to become a mindset. Coach Moorehead explains that the mindset makes players tough--and tough players become even tougher.  The Hokies have 14 more practices before the Spring game on April 20th. They will open against the defending national champion Alabama Crimson Tide at the end of August.
