Roanoke man working to bring Commodore Inn sign back to life

Posted: Updated:
ROANOKE, VA -

Two local artists are working to preserve a piece of Roanoke's history.

The Commodore Inn sign was located on a building in Roanoke for several decades. It was going to be painted over, until Matt Ames decided to make it his project to save it.

The sign recently received some fresh paint and is currently on display at the Boxley Building on Jefferson Street. Ames says the next step will be installing neon lights, then choosing a location for the sign once it is finished.
