Roanoke City and County firefighters battled a small brush fire in a difficult to reach part of Mill Mountain on Friday evening.
According to Roanoke Fire-EMS spokeswoman Tiffany Bradbury, the fire burned a section of land about 1/4 of a football field in size, on a steep incline, between two trails off of Prospect Road.
The fire caused smoke that could be seen from Downtown Roanoke.
Four Roanoke City Fire-EMS fire engines, and a Roanoke County Fire & Rescue brush truck battled the fire.
Neither the Mill Mountain Zoo, nor homes were in danger according to Bradbury.
