HENRY COUNTY, VA -

A Henry County man charged with murder Friday recently became $20,000 richer.

Investigators say Marcus Barnes, 34, was arrested for the shooting death of 28-year-old William Doss.

They learned early Saturday morning Barnes, of Fieldale, and his fiance Crystal Crockett recently won the cash in the "Money in the Bank" scratch-off game.

The couple spent just $2 on the winning ticket, according to the Virginia Lottery Facebook Page.

A Henry County man is dead after police say he was shot to death Friday evening.

William Doss, 28, was found just before 7:30 p.m. at his home on Blackberry Road in Bassett bleeding from a gunshot wound to his chest, according to a news release.

Marcus Barnes, 34, of Fieldale, Va. was arrested and is charged with first degree murder.

He remains in jail under no bond and is also charged with using a firearm in the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
