Hokies Assistant Byington Headed to Georgia Southern

   The Virginia Tech Hokies Basketball program remains in transition. Coach James Johnson had just lost his third leading scorer to transfer and now his losing a piece of his coaching staff.

   Assistant coach Mark Byington is headed to Georgia Southern after just one season on Johnson's staff.  Byington will be the Head Coach at the Statesboro, Georgia University. The move was confirmed for WSLS Sports by our on-line partner, HokieHaven.com.

   The Salem, Virginia native was an assistant for nine seasons at the College of Charleston under coach Bobby Cremins. Georgia Southern is making a move to the Sun Belt Conference after this season.
