Victims in deadly I-77 pile-up talk about terrifying experience

CARROLL COUNTY, VA -

Jessica Lilly Doty was traveling to Florida with her husband and two children when they found themselves in the middle of the deadly I-77 pile-up.

"We started to notice it was getting foggy," said Doty. "We came upon the accident quickly, and we were about 50 feet from a truck fire."

Doty said they were able to brake before hitting other vehicles, but they were rear-ended. She explained the moments after they were hit.

"I heard what sounded like a gun explosion. Then it was crunches and crashes, one after another," said Doty.

Doty said thankfully they were able to drive away from the wreckage without injury.
