HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL (WFLA) -

A car smashed into a medical office building on the corner of Town ‘n' Country Boulevard and Marston Drive Wednesday morning in Town ‘n' Country.

Hillsborough County deputies said the driver missed a turn and lost control of the Chevy Tracker. The car crashed into a corner of the Hess Spinal and Medical Center on a concrete staircase.

Deputies told us, the driver didn't stick around. He ran away, while his injured passenger sat trapped in the wrecked vehicle. Rescue crews helped him out. Paramedics rushed him to St. Josephs Hospital. Doctors said he had broken his arm and had a few cuts.

Hillsborough County K9 units caught up with the driver not far from the scene of the accident, hiding behind a dumpster. Deputies said, he acted impaired and failed a field sobriety test. He will face several charges including DUI.

A tow truck hauled the car away. The damage to the building is minimal. The accident doesn't interfere with the morning traffic in the area. There was only one car involved in the wreck.
