Virginia Tech news release

The Virginia Tech Psychosocial Interventions Lab has two eye-tracking studies currently open for participants:

1. Exploring Eye Gaze Patterns

We are enrolling teenagers and adults between the ages of 16 and 45 to participate in a study on the influence of social anxiety on gaze patterns. We are seeking individuals with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (such as Asperger's), individuals with Social Anxiety Disorder, and individuals without Autism Spectrum Disorder or Social Anxiety Disorder. Involvement in the study will require one visit to the Virginia Tech campus, after completing a brief telephone screen to determine eligibility. Total time commitment is 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 hours. If you are not a Virginia Tech student who can receive Sona extra credit, you will be paid $10 for participating. Go online or call 540-231-6744 if you would like more information about the study.

2. Eye Tracking Study for Children and Teens Ages 12-17

We are enrolling teenagers for a study on gaze patterns. The purpose of this study is to better understand the relationship between eye-gaze patterns and social fears.

We are seeking teenagers between the ages of 12 and 17 to participate, including those who are shy or withdrawn and teens with autism spectrum conditions such as Asperger's Disorder. Participation involves a brief (under 90 minutes) assessment at the campus lab. All information will be kept confidential. Families will be given a $15 honoraria as compensation for participating.

To learn more about the study and find out if your child is eligible to participate, contact the Psychosocial Interventions Lab at 540-231-6744.
