Gleaning For the World Collecting Supplies for Syrian Refugees

CONCORD -

Gleaning for the World is collecting donations to Syrian Refugees at Thomas Road Baptist Church.

The following is a news release from Gleaning for the World:

Escaping mortars, snipers' bullets, and fearing chemical weapons more than 28,000 people flee Syria each week. With a growing number of refugees now at 2 Million, many of whom are women and children, Jordan has opened its borders to help with this escalating international crisis. Many of these families have no homes to return to and will reside in these tent cities for the foreseeable future.

Gleaning for the World is committed to providing assistance to the refugees living in these dire conditions. We have committed to providing over 2 Million meals and 50,000 pairs of shoes that will be shipped to Syrian refugee camps in Jordan.

Sen. John McCain is quoted on these camps as saying "... a woman was there, she said, 'These children in this refugee camp, they will take revenge on those who refuse to help them.' We are raising a generation of Jihadists in these refugee camps."

"What we are trying to do, as Christians, is show Christ's love, and show them that we are not their enemies. The church will reach out to help in their time of need." says Rev. Ron Davidson, founder of Gleaning for the World.

Gleaning for the World is responding to this crisis and will be holding collections for the Syrian refugees at Thomas Road Baptist Church beginning on April 7th through the 21st. We are accepting baby supplies, personal care items, and women's supplies.
