Vehicle crashes into East Coasters in Blacksburg

On April 7 at 3:05 a.m. police responded to the East Coasters bicycle shop in reference to a vehicle that crashed into the business.  Police say Christopher D. Hinchcliffe was driving north on Main Street in a 1996 Nissan pickup when he veered though the southbound lane and hit a utility pole. The vehicle continued to travel off the road towards the East Coaster's building, crashing into a large exterior window and wall.

Hinchcliffe, 21, was taken to a local hospital to have his injuries treated.  He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.

Damage to the building is estimated at $12,000 and the Nissan pickup was a total loss.
