Hendrick Passes Petty in this Week's NASCAR Teardown

Posted: Updated:

  NASCAR TEARDOWN FOR 4/8

New car, new feuds, but the same old dominating Hendrick team at Martinsville. With Denny Hamlin out with a back injury, it seemed like jimmie Johnson lacked a rival. And the 48 dominated, leading 346 laps. It was a huge organizational win as Hendrick surpassed Petty Enterprises with the most wins at the historic track. 20 for Hendrick, 19 for Petty. After the race both Jimmie Johnson and crew chief Chad Knaus were thankful for their association with Hendrick, and both understand how much it means to surpass the King in anything. The win also puts Johnson atop the point standings by half dozen over Brad Keselowski. Kyle Busch and Kasey Kahne both move up a pair of spots. Clint Bowyer is up six spots to 8th.  Texas is next for the NASCAR boys.
