Roanoke city school district leaders to present program at national conference

ROANOKE, VA -

Dr. Rita Bishop, the superintendent of the Roanoke city school system, and Dave Carson, the school board chairman, will be flying to San Diego tomorrow to present a program on CCAP at a national school board conference.

CCAP stands for "community college access program."

Eligible students have qualify financially, plus earn their high school diplomas, and maintain a 2.5 GPA in high school (2.0 in Roanoke city), and then get two free years at Virginia Western Community College.

The participating school systems are Roanoke city, Roanoke County, Botetourt County, Craig County, Franklin County, and Salem city.
