NRV launches online community survey

FAIRLAWN -

People in the New River Valley can now weigh in on the direction they want to see the community go.

The New River Valley Planning District Commission is launching an online survey this morning to get your input. The NRV Tomorrow survey is an interactive way to focus on a number of topics including aging, agriculture, arts & culture, community health, economy & employment, energy, housing, internet access, natural resources, and transportation. The group says the projects and policies listed in the survey were created in response to the goals citizens identified as high priority from the Community Priorities Survey conducted in November-December 2012, which sought citizen feedback on the preliminary goals developed by the Livability Initiative's seven working groups.

When you take part in the survey and select your priorities, you'll see how you selections impact other potential projects and get a real sense of trade off when it comes to making decisions. The survey covers the counties of Montgomery, Floyd, Pulaski, Giles and the city of Radford.

"Working groups are going to help identify some strategies to help move forward some of the opportunities that have been identified as also some strategies to deal with some of the challenges that have been identified," said New River Valley Planning District Commission Executive Director, Kevin Byrd. The survey ends May 31. A formal report will be released in December.
