Roanoke County students hear experiences from successful actors and filmmakers

ROANOKE COUNTY, VA -

Students at William Byrd High School got the chance to hear from successful actors and filmmakers this morning.

The panel included: actress Nancy Stafford, who is best known for her work in Matlock, actress Sandra Van Natta, actor and filmmaker Torry Martin, and Greg Robbins, screenwriter.

Each of them shared their experiences trying to make it in a tough industry.

"More and more TV shows, films, are not being shot in Hollywood, but there's opportunity to find really viable, exciting work here in their own hometown," actress Nancy Stafford says.

"I wanted to become involved in the event because I was one of those kids who needed to be mentored when I had aspirations to be an actor," filmmaker Torry Martin says.

Each of them will be leading workshops at the Roanoke Arts and Entertainment Conference. For more information go here.
