TRAFFIC ALERT: Route 29 bridge repairs in Chatham area

Posted: Updated:
PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY, VA -

VDOT news release

Drivers should expect delays on Route 29 southbound in Pittsylvania County during the week of April 15th, while repairs are made to the railing on the bridge over the Norfolk Southern Railroad in the Chatham area, near the Olde Dominion Agricultural Complex.

The bridge was struck by a vehicle earlier this year and the railing was damaged and needs to be repaired for the safety of the traveling public.  The work will require a lane closure; signs and other traffic control devices will be in place during these operations. Motorists are encouraged to be alert, slow down and watch for slow moving vehicles.

This structure is, also, the subject of a Design Public Hearing to be held on Tuesday, April 16 at the Chatham Office of the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT).  The open forum hearing will be held from 4-6 p.m.
