If you need to fill up in Roanoke this morning, you have just a few hours to get gas from Sheetz at the corner of Williamson Road and Orange Avenue. The popular spot for fuel and food will close at 7 this morning for renovations. The food section is already closed.

A traffic alert for drivers in Giles County. Paving will begin on Route 100 between Route 660, Staffordsville Hill Road and Route 665, Wilburn Valley Road) from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m. each night, weather permitting through Friday.

Funeral services will be held today for a Roanoke man who was a member of the famed Tuskegee Airmen during World War II. The movie Red Tails came out this time last year depicting the first African American flying squad. Dempsey Wesley Morgan Jr., a Detroit native was a 1st Lieutenant with the 332nd Fighter Group and 100th Fighter Squadron.

Virginia Tech's Veteran and Military Student Support Initiative will host a conference today to raise awareness about research and educational needs for veterans. Today is the final day of the two day conference, "Veterans in Society: Changing the Discourse."

Second graders from Check Elementary and Blue Mountain Schools will plant potatoes today on a farm to school field trip from 10 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.. The same students will head back to Old Millstone Farm in September to dig the potatoes to be served in their cafeteria as part of a program with SustainFloyd.

President Obama will welcome the BCS National Champion Crimson Tide to the White House to honor their season and 15th National Title. It's the University of Alabama team's third trip to the nation's capital in four years.

The Boston Marathon will get underway this morning. This year, there will be a special remembrance for the Sandy Hook Elementary victims.
