Christiansburg police released several new details about their investigation into last Friday's shootings at the satellite campus of the New River Community College inside the New River Valley Mall.

Among the new details:

-Investigators have not been able to uncover any connection between the suspected shooter, Neil MacInnis, and his two victims.

-Police believe MacInnis fired at least nine rounds inside the mall.

-Investigators say MacInnis fired several different types of rounds, including single projectiles, or slugs, and shotgun spray, which was bird and buck shot.

-MacInnis purchased the shotgun police believe he used legally, from a licensed firearms dealer, two days before the shootings.

MacInnis's next court appearance is scheduled for June 18th.

Original post:

A search warrant on file in Montgomery County circuit court claims Neil MacInnis left a note shortly before police say he shot two women inside the New River Valley Mall's New River community college satellite campus.

The court papers claim MacInnis left a note saying he was "going to ruin his life" at his place of employment.

Court records show he worked at Old Navy in Christiansburg.

MacInnis told a judge he needed to have an attorney appointed for him in a brief hearing this morning in Montgomery County general district court.

The search warrants read police confiscated a shotgun, ammunition, and several other items from inside the car police say MacInnis drove to the mall.

WSLS 10's Scott Leamon will have more on the investigation tonight at 6.
