Massive gator shocks Hilton Head residents

HILTON HEAD, S.C. -

A Hilton Head Island woman opened the front door of her Indigo Run home and saw - a 12 foot alligator staring up at her.

Diana Andrews couldn't have been more surprised when she saw the alligator on her front porch on Friday.

She quickly called in Critter Management who had kind of a tough time wrangling the thousand-pound gator. And although it didn't threaten Andrews, she says it was quite the eye-opener this morning.

"I was terrified, I was screaming and shaking, at the same time, trying to find the phone to call security, I figured they would just come and take it away, but they said it was too big and that I needed to call a professional,."

Andrews says they normally have alligators in the lagoon behind her house, but this has never happened before and she hopes it doesn't happen again.
