Texas Tavern takes menu on the road

ROANOKE, VA -

Bowls with and cheesy westerns will soon be at a festival near you.

They're the staples on the Texas Tavern menu and the downtown Roanoke landmark is now taking its menu on the road.

Owner Matt Bullington says they've got a 15-by-10 foot tent with a lot of the signage you'll see in the brick and mortar restaurant and they'll be ready to set up across Southwest Virginia to offer their cheap eats on the go. Texas Tavern may also show up for private parties down the road. "Basically recreate the menu, pretty much 95% of it-- it's not that big anyway," said Bullington. "For years, I've had people ask me, you guys need to go to festivals, take this show on the road, do something sort of outside."

The mobile Texas Tavern will make its debut at the Vinton Dogwood Festival April 27 and at Railfest May 11 and 12.
