Pack fans get look at Doeren at Red-White game Saturday

RALEIGH, N.C. -

N.C. State's annual Red and White spring football game will kick off Saturday at 1:30 p.m.

This will be first the first opportunity for Wolfpack fans to see what new head coach Dave Doeren brings to Raleigh. Doeren was hired from Northern Illinois to replace Tom O'Brien after a lackluster 7-6 finish to the 2012 season.

Doeren brings a completely different style of play along with an almost completely rebuilt coaching staff. State fans will watch as sophomore quarterback Manny Stocker fights for a starting spot with Colorado State transfer Pete Thomas. Competition in the secondary will be just as fierce as Doeren must find replacements for All-ACC defensive backs Earl Wolff, Brandon Bishop and David Amerson.

But festivities in the Kay Yow Spring Game will begin Friday at Carter-Finley Stadium. Friday night from 6 to 11 p.m. will be the BBQ Bowl, "Kickin' At The Carter" located in the RV lot. There will be a BBQ cook off, live music, food trucks, corn hole tournament and photo booth with Mr. and Ms. Wuf.

Saturday before the game, "Pickin' At The Carter" BBQ Bowl will also be located at the RV lots. Celebrity judges will be on the main stage at 9:30 a.m., while fans can participate in the Junior Wolfpack Club fan zone or corn hole tournaments.

The gates will open for the game at 12:30 p.m. The game will use a four quarter set up and normal clock. The game is a free event, but donations are welcomed and all proceeds from this event will benefit the Kay Yow Cancer Fund and Kay Yow Endowment.

Parking is permitted starting at 8:30 a.m. Saturday in both the east and west sides of Carter-Finley with no fee to park. RV parking will be limited in the RV lot due to the Wolfpack Club Barbeque Bowl.

No parking will be offered at the PNC Arena due to the ‘Canes hockey game following the spring scrimmage.

During the halftime show football alumni will be recognized. Last year more than 300 past players made an appearance during halftime.
