A Raleigh man took a handgun from four men during an attempted robbery Wednesday night and shot two of them, police said.

Raleigh police responded to a shooting call around 10:30 p.m. on the 4900 block of Brook Knoll Place.

When officers arrived, they found 32-year-old Marcus Shu-Aib Smith suffering from a gunshot wound to the arm. The injury is non-life threatening and he is listed as being in good condition.

Police said Smith was approached by four suspects while returning home. Shu-Aib was able to take a handgun from one of the suspects during their interactions.

Smith exchanged gunfire with the suspects, striking two. The four suspects then escaped in a vehicle.

Two of the suspects were dropped off at Rex Hospital by an unknown person. Barshiri Ahmed Sandy, 33, and Henry R. Surpris, 35, were treated for non-life threatening injuries at Rex before being transferred to WakeMed.  Surpris is listed as being in good condition.
