ROANOKE, VA -

Studies show Virginia is now loosing land at more than two miles the rate of the population growth.

Conservation leaders from across Virginia came together for the 2013 Virginia Land Conservation Conference at Hotel Roanoke.

They talked about ways to preserve more land and prevent the loss of farms, forests, and natural lands.

This area of Roanoke and the Roanoke Valley, we have some wonderful natural resources that we want to protect and we are here to let land owners know how to do that," Janet Schied, Blue Ridge Land Conservancy Board Members says.

This is the first time the conference has been in Roanoke. Leaders say they were honored to be chosen.
