Roanoke street closures for Blue Ridge Marathon

ROANOKE, VA -

City of Roanoke news release

 

On Saturday, April 20, 2013, there will be several street closures from 6:00 AM - 4:00 PM due to the 2013 Foot Levelers Blue Ridge Marathon, Half Marathon, and YMCA Kids 1 Mile Run. The closures

include:

 

- Norfolk Ave westbound, between 1 ½ Street and Jefferson Street

- Norfolk Avenue, between east of Towers Garage entrance/exit and Campbell Avenue

- Salem Avenue, between Jefferson Street and Williamson Road

- Campbell Avenue eastbound, between 1st Street SW and Jefferson Street

- Church Ave, between Jefferson Street and Williamson Road

- Franklin Road, between Jefferson Street and Williamson Road

- Elm Avenue, between Williamson Road and 1st Street SW

- Jefferson Street, between Norfolk Avenue and Walnut Avenue

- Walnut Avenue eastbound, between Jefferson Street and J. B. Fishburn Parkway

- J. B. Fishburn Parkway, between Walnut Avenue and Mill Mountain Spur Road

- Jefferson Street southbound, between 24th Street SW and Reserve Avenue

- Reserve Avenue eastbound, between Jefferson Street and Franklin Road

- Franklin Road northbound, between Reserve Avenue and Wiley Drive

- Wiley Drive, between Jefferson Street and Franklin Road

- Elm Avenue westbound; between Riverside Blvd and 5th Street SW

- Luck Avenue, between 3rd Street SW and 6th Street SW

- 3rd Street SW, between Norfolk Avenue and Church Avenue

- King George Avenue, between Franklin Road and 5th Street SW

- 6th Street SW, between Walnut Avenue and King George Avenue;

 

A temporary new traffic pattern will be in place on Broadway Avenue, between Avenham Avenue and 22nd Street SW.

 

All parking garages will remain accessible. A detour will not be established. The City of Roanoke will furnish, place, maintain and remove all barricades, signs, cones, etc.

     Roanoke Police are investigating after a man was shot in the Schewels parking lot on the 3600 block of Ferncliff Avenue. Police says it does not appear to be a random act. One man was shot and taken to the hospital.
