Vinton ready for big downtown changes

Posted: Updated:
VINTON -

Between plans for the new Vinton library and a revitalization grant, the town of Vinton is getting a major facelift.

Earlier this year Vinton's Town Council approved a $700,000 downtown revitalization grant.

Plus Thursday night at a public meeting the town took suggestions for a new $9 million public library set to be built in the near future.

"It's exciting. Our business owners and our people in the community are excited about showing it off and getting people back into downtown Vinton," said Vinton Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Angie Chuwning-Lewis. "(We want to) show what kind of businesses we actually have here."

Vinton will also be remodeling several store fronts to give it a different look and attract more people to the town.
