Storms bring damage to area

The storm started with heavy rain across the area, quickly bringing in strong winds. Officials in Bedford County say several roads were completely or partially blocked because of down trees. A large tree blocked Falling Creek Road for several hours. 

Folks in Franklin County lost power because of the storm. Several trees fell on top of power lines .one tree blocked part of 220 south, but crews were able to quickly remove it. 

A tree on Angle Plantation Road also knocked out a transformer; cause many to lose power in the area.

    According to Roanoke City Police a shooting suspect is at large after one person was shot on the Roanoke River Greenway near the Ramada Inn on Franklin Road. Police say the victim has non-life threatening injuries. The call came in around 8:55.
