Crews Search James River in Amherst Co. for Possible Drowning VIctim

Posted: Updated:

Crews called off a search Saturday night after a boat was found floating in the James River.

We're told emergency crews from Big Island and Bedford County searched the James River in Amherst County for more than two hours.

A call came in around 6 p.m. about a canoe floating in the middle of the river, with no one around.

Crews used boats to search for a possible drowning victim, but no one was found.

They had to call off the search when it got dark.

Crews may be back Sunday morning.
