Daytime at the Movies

The Grandin Theatre held its Film Festival over the weekend. The outstanding line-up including Academy Award Nominated Shorts, documentaries, and even some classics like "The Birds" and "Unforgiven".

Heather went to see "The Place Beyond The Pines" starring Ryan Gosling, Ray Liotta, Bradley Cooper and Eva Mendes. Gosling plays a motorcycle stunt rider who turns to robbing banks to provide for an ex-lover and their newborn child he just learned about.

There were a couple surprising twists, including a shift in plot from Gosling's character to Bradley Cooper's character. He plays a rookie cop whose brush with Gosling changes the course of his life and the life of his family. Eva Mendes plays Gosling's love interest, and Ray Liotta plays a crooked cop.

There is a third plot shift when the film jumps 15 years into the future and really focuses in on how our actions impact our kids' lives.

This was a great, slice of life film, that was a little sad, but got to the grit of real life. Big two thumbs up!
