Pulaski leaders to vote on navigational buoys at Claytor Lake

Posted: Updated:
PULASKI COUNTY, VA -

They are big and bright and some homeowners at Claytor Lake do not want them in them water.

The board of supervisors in Pulaski County will vote Monday night on a plan by AEP to place the channel markers in the lake.

The buoys would be placed near the Draper end of the lake where boaters often get stuck in mud banks.

Around 400 people signed an online petition asking AEP to scrap the plan and come up with another solution.

"I has gotten out of control, but we have aerial photos of the lake, so you can pick up these aerial photos, you can see the channel before you go on the lake, get somebody that lives here," said Tara Fowlkes.

Even if the board votes against the plan, AEP could still move forward with the Department of Game and Inland Fisheries.
