VA811 launches new mobile site

Posted: Updated:

The Virginia Utility Protection Service launches a new mobile site.

It's now more simple to use VA811.com on your smart phone.

811 is the national number for the Federal Communications Commission. It helps landscapers and contractors from hitting underground utility lines while working on digging projects.

The mobile site has buttons for homeowners, professionals, LETS (location Enhanced Ticket Search), and frequently asked questions. The button for professionals lets them have quick access to the law, events calendar, and contact e-mail.

"Safety is our number one priority and our mobile site makes it easier for everyone to call 811 and access the information they need when planning to dig," said Rick Pevarski, CEO of VUPS. "The use of mobile devices is only going to continue to increase so it is necessary for us to provide a mobile site, especially with a good portion of our website users being out in the field without convenient access to a computer."
