Raleigh runners jog to support Boston

Posted: Updated:
RALEIGH, N.C. -

More runners in Raleigh hit the pavement Monday to help out victims of the Boston Marathon bombings.

The mile-long race called "A Mile in Memory" started at 6 p.m. Monday at the corner of Morgan and Wilmington Streets, looped around Blount Street, north to Jones Street, and then back around the Capitol.

The race was free, but runners were encouraged to donate to the One Fund (https://onefundboston.org), which helps bombing victims.  Many runners did not know anyone affected.   They just wanted to run.

"Even If you don't know someone it's just good to show general support for the people that did lose loved ones or limbs or were personally affected by it," Will Hardison said.

At last check, organizers said they raised about $2,000, with more money trickling in.
