A crash sent a man to the hospital on Tuesday afternoon, during a bicycle ride near the Blue Ridge Parkway in Bedford County.
According to Bedford County Fire & Rescue Deputy Chief Marci Stone, the accident took place around 1:42 p.m. A group of cyclists were riding in the 8900 block of Peaks Road, when a 50-year-old man crashed down a ten-foot embankment, and got pinned upside down between two rocks.
EMTs airlifted the man to Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Stone did not release the man's name or condition. However, Stone said the man is believed to be from out of state, and in town taking part in a cycling event.
