WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, WV -

An eight-time tennis grand slam tournament champion will add his name to the line-up at The Greenbrier Resort's second annual tennis classic event in September.

The resort announced on Tuesday that Ivan Lendl agreed to join fellow tennis legends Pete Sampras and John McEnroe for exhibition matches.  Also, the current #14th ranked ATP player Tommy Haas will play in the classic.

The event takes place September 21-22nd.

McEnroe and Sampras played in the inaugural event in 2012.

On Saturday, McEnroe will face-off with Lendl, with Sampras taking on Haas.

On Sunday, the four will play a doubles match.  McEnroe and Sampras will play Lendl and Haas, pitting the Americans versus the Europeans.

"We are so thrilled to continue to build the tradition of the fall Tennis Classic at The Greenbrier, and welcome Pete and John back to the resort," said Jim Justice, owner of The Greenbrier, in a news release.  "And we could not ask for better ambassadors for the resort and our extraordinary tennis facilities than four of the most talented players that have ever graced the court in international men's tennis."

"I am really looking forward to returning to The Greenbrier again this fall for some great tennis-and hopefully a little golf, too!" said Pete Sampras in the release.  "John and I had such a great time last year, and I'm psyched to join forces with him this year to take on the 'new challengers' at the tournament."

"It's really great to see the Greenbrier continue to bring tennis to the forefront at this great American resort" said John McEnroe in the release.  "The crowd at last year's event seemed to really enjoy the tennis and was very supportive of both Pete and myself.  I am sure the new expanded tournament format, with the Americans vs. Europeans competition, will encourage even more fans to come out for a great weekend."

Tickets start at $125 per seat and can be purchased by phone at (855) 239-7531.
