Lynchburg and Bedford law enforcement officials continue to search for two suspects

Paulette circle in Lynchburg's Wyndhurst area is usually a quiet part of town without a lot of activity says Julie Clark. Suddenly more than just chatter filled the neighborhood.

"After a friend called and told me something was going on and to be careful keep my doors locked. I looked out my front window and to police officers were standing in the street in front of my house. They had on tactical uniforms and carrying big guns," says Clark. 

Clark says she saw the car police found abandoned in the neighborhood, and it was outside her home; a maroon Altima still running with the trunk open. However police didn't stay long says Clark.

"I saw them all of the sudden very quickly get into their vehicle and tires squealed up the street up Paulette onto Enterprise with the sirens going," says Clark.

Meanwhile police cars lined Woodberry lane just a couple of miles away. Nancy Wynn watched all the activity from inside her home.  

"I wasn't sure what was going on, there were 10 police cars and saw people. It went from a quiet day to completely chaotic," says Wynn. 

Police cars were there for less than hour. Neither of the two suspects in custody and the searching continuing into the night; it wasn't the outcome Wynn hoped for. 

"Uncomfortable knowing it got into our community but a little uncomfortable," says Wynn. 

A quiet community that hardly gets a police visit. 

"10 years and never had anything like this happen in our area," says Wynn. 

And hopes the suspects are arrested soon, and she won't see this scene again.

Full Release from Bedford County Sheriff's Department:

On Tuesday April 23, 2013, the Bedford County Sheriff's Office received a report of suspicious activity at the Fink's Jewelers, 16960 Forest Road.

After receiving this information investigators with the Bedford County Sheriff's Office with the assistance of the Lynchburg City Police Department, Va. State Police and agents with the A.T.F. set up surveillance on the business.

At 2:20 p.m. today (Wednesday) investigators observed a maroon Nissan Altima with North Carolina tags in the area of Fink's.

A black female got out of the car and went onto the Bank of the James, 17000 Forest Road.

After dropping off the female, the Altima with two black males parked in a nearby business parking lot.

As the female exited the bank she walked in the direction of the Altima.

As she approached the car the driver drove away at a very high rate of speed, leaving the female standing in the lot.

Officers pursued the vehicle onto Forest Road and onto Enterprise Drive.

Due to the heavy traffic in the area at the time contact was lost of the Altima, however it was located a short time later in the Wyndhurst area.  The vehicle was still running and the passenger's door and trunk was open.

Investigators held and identified the black female. Both suspects were last seen running towards the Lynchburg City.

Suspect #1: Black male, 6' tall, wearing a black and red cap, blue jeans, white shirt.

Suspect #2: Black male, blue jeans, black shirt, wearing a Charlotte Hornets cap.

The investigation continues and charges are pending on the female.
