Report ranks Durham school No. 1 in NC

RALEIGH, N.C. -

The Durham School of the Arts is the top-ranked public high school in North Carolina, according to a report from U.S. News and World Report.

Carrboro High School is ranked No. 2, according to the report, and Northwood High in Pittsboro is No. 6.

The highest-ranked school in Wake County was Middle Creek, at No. 7. Cary High School also made the Top 10, at No. 9.

Leesville (No. 16), Wakefield (No. 17) and Millbrook (No. 18) were also ranked among the top 20.

The list of top 100 schools did not include magnet school Enloe, highly regarded Raleigh Charter or Broughton High School.

U.S. News and World Report said it evaluated more than 21,000 public schools in 49 states and the District of Columbia.
