First ever Rockbridge Retreat to benefit special operations veterans

Posted: Updated:

Veterans in Rockbridge County are making a difference creating the first ever Rockbridge Retreat.

The goal is for special operation veterans to soak in the mountains with their families, relaxing after their dedicated service to our country.

The retreat starts this July with six families, but organizers need community support for a shooting fundraiser in May.

Veteran Jason hall came up with the idea and enlisted help from veteran Boyd Brown.

"This is a very secluded, private location they can come with their families and not worry about being interrupted," explained Hall.
"The American public just doesn't understand how hard these guys work, how frequently they're separated from their families, the level of uncertainty that is associated with a lot of their separations," Brown said.

$10,000 is needed to buy equipment and help with travel expenses.

The fundraiser will be held on Saturday, May 4th from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Rockbridge Baths fire house.

Details on the shooting schedule can be found at www.rockbridgeretreat.com.
