Five local high schools ranked in top 40 in Virginia by U.S. News & World Report

ROANOKE COUNTY, VA -

Schools from Roanoke County, Highland County, Bedford County, and Danville rank among the top 40 high schools in Virginia, according to new rankings from U.S. News & World Report.

Hidden Valley High School ranks the highest at #22 in the Commonwealth, and #561 nationally.  The Titans scored well in three categories: College readiness, average math proficiency, and average reading proficiency.

The second highest ranked local school is Highland County High School, at #29 in the state (#741 nationally).  It scored well in student teacher ratio (13:1), college readiness, and average reading proficiency.

Cave Spring High School ranks #33 in Virginia (#851 nationally).  The Knights scored highest in  average math proficiency, and average reading proficiency.

Jefferson Forest High School ranks #36 in the Commonwealth (#1002 nationally).  JF scored highest in  average reading proficiency.

Danville Galileo Magnet High School came in a #39 for the state (#1677 nationally).  It scored highest in a low student-teacher ratio (13:1).
