NC State, UNC players picked on second day of NFL Draft

NEW YORK -

N.C. State and North Carolina each had two players selected in the second day of the 2013 NFL Draft.

North Carolina running back Giovani Bernard was selected by the Cincinnati Bengals with the fifth pick in the second round of the 2013 NFL Draft.

Bernard was the first running back selected in this year's draft.

The Boca Raton, Fla. native earned third-team All-America honors in 2012 and was selected first-team All-ACC.

Carolina offensive tackle Brennan Williams was pick in the third round by the Houston Texans.

Williams became the second Tar Heel offensive lineman selected in the 2013 draft. Jonathan Cooper was selected with the seventh pick by the Arizona Cardinals.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers selected N.C. State quarterback Mike Glennon in the third round.

Glennon completed over 58 percent of his passes for 4,031 yards, 31 touchdowns and 17 interceptions for the Wolfpack as a senior. He was the 73rd overall pick of the draft.

Wolfpack junior defensive back David Amerson was selected by the Washington Redskins in the second round of the 2013 NFL Draft.

The Redskins picked Amerson with the 51st pick overall.

Amerson finished the season with 61 tackles, five intersections, 17 passes defended, and 12 pass breakups during the 2012 season.

Amerson is N.C. State's all-time leader in interceptions. He was a consensus All-American in 2011 as a sophomore by leading the nation with 13 interceptions.
