RALEIGH, N.C. -

"Everyday we were together, Jamie would make me a better person," an emotional Nation Hahn told a crowd of hundreds inside Raleigh's Pullen Memorial Baptist Church on Saturday, attending his wife's funeral.

Friends, family and loved ones packed Pullen Church to pay their respects to a democratic political strategist who was stabbed to death earlier this week.  29-year-old Jamie Hahn died in the hospital this week after Raleigh police said she was stabbed to death by a close family friend and best man in her wedding.

Jonathan Broyhill, 31, will be charged with murder once he is released from the hospital.  He's listed in good condition at WakeMed.  Police say he suffered self-inflicted stab wounds.

Jamie Hahn ran Sky Blue Strategies, a political fundraising firm.  She worked for a number of democratic candidates in recent years.

Saturday, loved ones, colleagues and her husband painted a picture of a woman who only wanted to do good in the world.

"Jamie was more than a fundraiser, a democrat or a public servant," Nation Hahn said.  "You couldn't fit who she was in a 140 character or a 1,000 word story...She was so positive and so warm.  She had a profound ability to laugh through the tears."

Former United States Senate Candidate Ken Lewis said she, "wanted justice for all, opportunity for all."  Lewis compared her political philosophy to that of Martin Luther King, Jr.

College friends also spoke, at times their voices cracking.

"Jamie is special.  She never judged me or anyone else," Jennifer Boyce said.

"Keep reminding me to be more like Jamie, to dedicate myself to helping others, standing up for what is right, and seeing the good in all around me," Katie Mixon said.

QUESTIONS REMAIN

As Hahn is laid to rest, questions remain regarding the circumstances of her death.  Police have not yet announced any sort of motive for the killing, only saying the stabbing was "not domestic" in nature.  Earlier this week, we learned the suspect, Broyhill, was being investigated over financial discrepancies in former U.S. Representative Brad Miller's 2010 campaign.  Another source close to the family said Broyhill had recently claimed to have pancreatic cancer, when in fact he did not.

For a period of time Saturday, those remaining questions about her death were put aside to honor a woman who was adored by so many.  Her husband Nation said her death left him in a dark place, but he said his late wife will help lift him up.

"I don't know if I can ever climb this hill, but Jamie would tell us...we could do it...and she would say we're going to get to the top," Hahn said.  "And I know that when we do, we will see her light and we will hear her laugh and she will inspire us to be better people, always."
