One World Trade Center will become the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere Today as the final two sections of a 408 foot spire are set to be raised to the top of the 16 acre site. Once the spire is complete, which includes the installation of a six ton stainless steel beacon, it will make the building an iconic height of 1,776 feet.

The man believed to be behind the ricin laced letters sent to President Obama, Senator Roger Wicker and a Mississippi judge is expected to make his first appearance in federal court today. 41-year-old James Everett Dutschke was arrested Saturday and charged with possession of a biological agent with intent to use as a weapon.

President Obama is expected to nominate Charlotte, North Carolina Mayor Anthony Foxx to be his next Secretary of Transportation sometime today. Foxx is the president's first African-American nominee among his second term cabinet appointees.

Nearly four year's after Michael Jackson's death, opening statements get underway today in a Los Angeles courtroom in the Jackson family suit against AEG Live. Attorney's for the family will try to convince a jury that the promotion company AEG was responsible for Jackson's death.

A traffic alert in Carroll County: VDOT will replace culverts on a section of Route 767 (Buck Horn Road) and Route 620 (Forest Oak Road). Parts of the roads will be closed and detours set up.

Lynchburg State Senator Steve Newman will present a special general assembly resolution to the widow and family of recently deceased Brigadier General George M. Snead Jr. this afternoon to honor his military career. The ceremony is at 1:30 at Commons at Westminster Cantebury.

An Appomattox man will make his 400th platelet donation today in Roanoke. Phillip Lucado is one of only five members of the Appalachian Region to meet or exceed that level. The Red Cross approached him to become a platelet donor after he gave about 10 gallons of blood.

Today marks the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's second wedding anniversary. Prince William and Kate Middleton tied the knot back in 2011 during an elaborate ceremony watched by millions.
