Local college campuses, doctors offices and hospitals are working together with the Virginia Department of Health to look for any signs of mumps.

Here are the facts:

2010 13 cases

2011 13 cases

2012 7 cases

2013 108 suspected cases

Symptoms:

Swollen cheeks

Fever

Headache

Weakness and fatigue

Loss of appetite

Pain while chewing or swallowing

The illness is contagious three days before swollen cheeks and five days after that symptom presents itself.

New numbers are expected from the Virginia Department of Health Wednesday.
