GREENVILLE, N.C. -

Greenville Police responded to a robbery at an internet café early Tuesday morning.

Police said it happened at the Carolina Cyber Café on Old Tar Road.

An employee told police a suspect came in and threatened them, then struck the employee several times. The suspect then took an undisclosed amount of money and ran away through the back door. The employee didn't say if there was a weapon involved.

Greenville Police Detectives, a Police Canine Unit and Forensics personnel, along with Winterville Police Officers, responded to the scene.

A police dog followed the suspect's track for a short distance, but lost the scent somewhere behind the shopping center.

Police said the suspect was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and a baseball cap.

This investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information on the case should call the Greenville Police Department at 252-329-4315. Pitt-Greenville CrimeStoppers will also pay a reward for information that leads to an arrest. That number is 252-758-7777.
